How to set up IKEv1 VPN on Mac OS X

Prepare

Please get your VPN account information from your VPN service provider.

It should includes:
  • VPN Server Address (usally a host name or ip address)
  • VPN username
  • VPN password
  • VPN IPSec Secret Key (or Pre-Shared Key)
  • VPN Group Name (optional)

You will need to use these information when setup VPN connection .

Setup VPN connection

  1. Open System Preferences , choose Network
  2. Click + icon at left bottom corner, then select VPN for Interface, select Cisco IPSec for VPN Type in the popup window, then click Create button 。

  1. Now we need fill the fields with details
  • Server Address - VPN Server Address
  • Account Name - VPN username
  • Password - VPN Password

  1. Click Authentication Settings ,fill the fileds in the popup window .
  • Shared Secret - VPN IPSec secret key
  • Group Name - VPN Group Name, leave it blank if not provided

  1. Click Apply button at right bottom corner to finish the setup process. You can then click Connect button to connect to vpn server .
